Always eat where you see the biggest crowd.
Whether you're visiting a new place, choosing a food truck, or looking to engage your students, it's advice that travels. And if you had a dime for every phone you confiscated because someone was on Facebook at the wrong time…
Great teachers know that meeting your students where they are is the best way to capture their attention. And "where they are" is on social media.
Funny thing about that: teachers as growing professionals are also on social media. Parents are on social media. Heck, district administration is on social media!
This course gets you up to speed on several social platforms that your students, colleagues, and community are using to communicate, curate, and, learn: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
You'll learn to sign up, connect with others, guard your privacy. You'll tweet, you'll post, you'll blog, you'll share photos and video. You'll use social media to develop curriculum and enhance learning. You'll build community with peers, parents, and administration. And you'll grow as an educator by creating and connecting with a worldwide PLN. And you have the option to choose Assessment of Knowledge (AOK) projects that call for you to create class materials to share with your kids, so your coursework packs a double punch.
